2003, 3:00 pm Refreshments will be available.
Let's get ready to rumble. Pro boxing is back in Stockton, in a big
way. There will be a rumble in Stockton's jungle. Big Time World
Championship Boxing and Kickboxing presents a boxing and kickboxing
explosion. You would not be able to see an event like this anywhere in
Northern California. Tickets are ridiculously low.
Over fifty rounds of professional boxing and amateur kickboxing on
May 23, 7:00 pm, at the Stockton Memorial Civic Auditorium, in beautiful
downtown Stockton. A number of celebrities will be making appearances,
including Cruiserweight World Champion James "Lights Out" Tony;
World Welterweight Champion from 1976-79, actor and activist, born in
Mexico, "Fist of Steel" Stark Carlos Palomino, who has appeared
in several feature films; and Middleweight Champion Oba Carr. Beautiful
Las Vegas style ring girls will be at the show. Every seat in the house
has a great view and tickets will sell out. Tickets range in price from
$20 to $55. These seat prices are less than half of what any other typical
show would charge.
Meet some of the Stockton's old-time boxers of Stockton, as well as
the new up and coming champions-Fel Clemente, Featherweight Champion
during the 70's; and light-heavyweight contender, during the 80's, Yaki
Lopez will be present. David Martinez, from Stockton, who is 90-10 as an
amateur and won the 2002 Bantamweight National Championship will be the
main event. He will be fighting Joaquin Candelerro from Phoenix, Arizona.
David will continue his undefeated streak.
Then the super-heavyweights will get it on. Carter Williams, 245
pounds, of Modesto, just won the World K-1 Kickboxing Championship, and
who is undefeated at 2-0 as a pro boxer, will fight John Clark, of Miami,
who was a defensive end for the 49ers during 1996-2000 and has appeared on
movies such as Any Given Sunday, The Replacements, Varsity Blues, Waterboy,
and The Jamie Fox Show. Joey Garcia, another outstanding bantamweight,
from Modesto, will fight Jorge Lopez of Phoenix. Maurice Hooks,
light-heavyweight, of Modesto, will make his pro debut, fighting Russian,
Vlad Inger. We have another light-heavyweight fight, which will pit
Sheldon Callum, of San Francisco, against Olawaleo Afolabi, of London,
England. The card continues with a couple more super-heavyweights that
fought to a draw the last time they met, last year, and would like to
settle this fight-265 pound Daniel McGerry, from Sacramento, will fight
Sal Fernetti, 310 pounds, of Los Angeles.
There will also be six kickboxing bouts, sanctioned by the
International Kickboxing Federation and an IKF Cruiser Championship
between Brandon Banda, of Concord, and Derek Yuen, of San Jose-Derek is
11-3 and Brandon has a perfect 5-0 record.
